Terms of Service

Last updated: September 23, 2026

These terms cover the Screen Famous software, this website and the online services that support them. By buying, installing or using Screen Famous you agree to them. Contact: [email protected].

1. What you are buying

Lifetime license. A one-time purchase gives you a perpetual license to install and use Screen Famous on the number of Macs shown for your plan (2 for Pro, 10 for Team), for your own or your business's recordings. The version you have keeps working for as long as you like. All updates we release are included, for as long as the product exists, at no extra cost.

Free mode. Without a license the app is fully usable for recording and editing; exports are limited in length and resolution and carry a watermark. Free mode is provided as is and may change between versions.

Team license. Permits use by the people in one organization, or by an agency on behalf of its clients, within the activation limit. It does not include source code.

Payment and invoices are handled by Stripe, our payment provider, which also collects and remits any VAT or sales tax due where applicable. Stripe's terms apply to the payment. License keys are issued by us and emailed to you after payment.

Subscriptions. Where monthly or yearly plans are offered on the pricing page, they are subscriptions billed in advance for each period until you cancel, which you can do at any time from the billing link in your welcome email or in the app's License settings; the plan then ends at the close of the paid period. A subscription includes a Screen Famous license (Pro or Team, as bought) with every update for as long as it runs, and the private community where one is offered. When it ends, the app returns to Free mode; recordings and project files stay yours. The first charge of a subscription is refundable under the 14-day rule below; later renewals are not, so cancel before a renewal you don't want.

iPhone and iPad. Screen Famous for iPhone and iPad is a separate product from the Mac app, sold through Apple's App Store. It is free to use with a watermark; the one-time unlock that removes or customizes the watermark is an in-app purchase sold and refunded by Apple under Apple's terms and its standard end-user license agreement. A Mac license does not include the unlock, and the unlock does not include a Mac license.

2. Refunds

This section is about Mac licenses bought on this website. Refunds for the iPhone and iPad in-app purchase are handled by Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com).

14 days, no questions asked. Within 14 days of a purchase you may ask for a refund for any reason — it didn't do what you hoped, your Mac is too old, you changed your mind. Email [email protected] with your order number or license key.

What is refunded. We refund the price you paid less the payment-processing fees that Stripe keeps on a refunded order, because those fees are not returned to us. Any sales tax or VAT charged on the order is refunded in full and is not part of the deduction. We will tell you the exact amount before processing the refund. Refunds go back to the original payment method and usually appear within 5–10 business days depending on your bank. Once refunded, the license key is deactivated and you must delete the software.

After 14 days a purchase is final, except where consumer law in your country gives you a longer right. If you run into a problem, contact us before opening a chargeback with your bank — a refund from us is faster for you and cheaper for everyone.

3. What you may not do

You may not resell, sublicense, rent or share license keys; remove or bypass the licensing or the free-mode watermark; reverse engineer the software except where the law allows; or use it to record people without the consent the law where you are requires. You are responsible for what you record and where you publish it.

4. Your recordings and data

Screen Famous runs on your Mac, iPhone or iPad and stores your recordings, settings and license there. You are responsible for keeping those devices and any backups secure. We never hold your recordings. See the Privacy Policy for what the license server and this website process.

5. The software

We work to keep Screen Famous working on current versions of macOS and will say on the download page which versions are supported. macOS changes its screen-capture, camera and permission systems between releases; we cannot guarantee that every version of Screen Famous will run on every future version of macOS. Updates are delivered through the app's built-in updater.

6. Fair use of the online services

The license server, the configuration endpoint, the update feed and the GIF proxy exist to serve the app. Using them for anything else, hammering them, or attempting to share a key beyond its activation limit may lead to the key being disabled. We may change or retire an online service with reasonable notice; the software you have installed keeps working without them, except that a disabled key returns the app to free mode.

7. Liability

Screen Famous is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from its use — including a recording that did not capture what you expected — beyond the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer law gives you and that cannot be excluded.

8. Changes

We may update these terms; the date at the top tells you when. Continuing to use the software or the services after a change means you accept it. If you do not, stop using them and, within 14 days of purchase, ask for a refund.
